LogicTutor is built around one central idea: you enter a propositional logic formula once, and every tool works on it. Type a formula on the Home screen, tap Analyze, and you get the parsed syntax tree, full truth table, CNF/DNF conversions and a satisfiability report. From there you can also export everything as a PDF.
Your first analysis: type (P → Q) ∧ P on the Home screen. The App validates it as you type, then Analyze shows that the formula is contingent — true only when both P and Q are true — and the truth table tab lays out all four cases.
The entire logic engine runs on your device. Nothing you enter is ever uploaded.
¬ ∧ ∨ ⊕ → ↔ plus parentheses and proposition letters. No hunting through the iOS keyboard.->, &&, ~ and words like and, or, not, implies; they are converted automatically.Every analysis you run is saved to History with its formula, date, classification and the tool that produced it. You can search, mark entries as favorites, filter to favorites only, and export the whole list as a PDF.
Reuse in one tap: tap Reuse on an entry and it opens the matching tool directly — a truth-table record reopens the truth table, a CNF/DNF record reopens the conversion — with the formula already filled in. Tap Back and you return straight to History.
If describing formulas in symbols is awkward, you can type a plain sentence and let an AI model turn it into a formula. This feature is off by default and fully under your control:
What is LogicTutor?
LogicTutor is an educational app for propositional logic on iPhone and iPad. It parses logical formulas, generates complete truth tables, converts formulas to CNF/DNF step by step, checks satisfiability with an on-device SAT solver, and offers a 108-question exercise library with a wrong-question book — all running locally on your device.
How many exercises are included, and what topics do they cover?
The library ships with 108 exercises organized by topic: formula basics & translation, operator precedence, truth tables, logical equivalence, normal forms (CNF/DNF), satisfiability, and inference rules. Formula answers are graded by logical equivalence, and the wrong-question book collects anything you miss until you answer it correctly.
What does Reuse on a history entry do?
It sends the stored formula back to the tool that produced the record — truth table, CNF/DNF, SAT reasoning or the formula page — with the formula already filled in, and Back returns you straight to History. Records created by the optional AI parsing open on the formula page.
Does LogicTutor require an internet connection?
No. The entire logic engine — parsing, truth tables, normal forms, SAT solving, exercises, history and PDF export — works completely offline. The only feature that uses the network is the optional AI parsing, which sends only the sentence you type directly to the AI provider you configure.
What is the largest formula LogicTutor can handle?
Truth tables cover formulas with up to 10 distinct variables exactly. Beyond that, the App switches to a DPLL SAT solver, so satisfiability, classification and models remain available even when a full table would have millions of rows. CNF/DNF conversion warns you instead of hanging if a result would grow beyond practical size.
Why is my answer marked correct even though it looks different from the model answer?
Exercise grading compares formulas by logical equivalence, not by string equality. Any formula that is true under exactly the same conditions as the model answer is accepted — for example, both P → Q and ¬P ∨ Q are correct answers to the same exercise.
Where is my data stored?
Entirely on your device. History, exercise results and the wrong-question book live in a local database inside the App's sandbox; preferences live in iOS settings; the AI API key lives in the iOS Keychain. Nothing is uploaded, and uninstalling the App removes everything.
Does LogicTutor collect any personal data?
No. LogicTutor does not collect, store, or transmit any personal information. There are no accounts, no analytics, and no tracking. See our Privacy Policy for details.
Why did AI parsing return a wrong formula?
AI models sometimes misread ambiguous sentences. The returned formula is always re-checked by the built-in engine, so compare it against your intent using the truth table, then rephrase or edit by hand. You can also disable the feature at any time in Settings → LLM Settings.
What devices does LogicTutor support?
LogicTutor runs on iPhone and iPad and requires iOS or iPadOS 17.6 or later. The layout adapts to both screen sizes.
The app crashed or isn't working properly. What should I do?
Try force-quitting and relaunching the app. If issues persist, please email us at daibou007@gmail.com with the formula you were analyzing and your device model & iOS or iPadOS version.
We're happy to help with any questions or feedback.
