How to Use DualCast Live

1. Setting Up an RTMP Server

Step 1 - Open the app and allow Camera and Microphone permission.
Step 2 - Tap the config pill at the top of the live screen, then tap Add Server.
Step 3 - Enter a name, your RTMP URL, and your Stream Key, then tap Save.
Step 4 - Tap the config pill again to select the server as your active destination.
Tip: You can save up to 10 server profiles and switch between them with one tap. Stream keys are encrypted on your device.

2. Running a Pre-Stream Connection Check

Tap the Detect button (antenna icon) before going live to run a 4-step check: network type, TCP connection, RTMP service response, and port/firewall status.

3. Dual-Camera Compositing Modes

Swipe the mode carousel to choose how your front and rear cameras combine, then use the slider to adjust the mode's parameter:

4. Going Live

Tap GO LIVE to start streaming to your selected RTMP server. The stats overlay shows bitrate, duration, and CPU load while you are live. Tap STOP to end the stream.

Tip: Enable local recording in Settings to save an MP4 copy of your composited stream while you broadcast.

5. Streaming History

Past sessions (duration and basic stats) are saved locally and available from the Sessions tab. Local recordings can be played back, shared, or deleted from there.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does DualCast Live ask for Microphone permission?

Microphone permission is required to capture audio for your live stream and local recordings. You can change this anytime in iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Microphone > DualCast Live.

Why does the app ask for Photos permission?

Photos permission (Add-Only) is only requested if you choose to save a local recording to your Photos library. The app can work without Photos permission by keeping recordings in its internal library.

My stream keeps disconnecting. What should I do?

Run the pre-stream Detect check first to confirm your server is reachable. If you are on a corporate or hotel Wi-Fi network, port 1935 may be blocked; try mobile data or an RTMP-over-HTTPS (port 443) endpoint if your platform supports it. DualCast Live also attempts to automatically reconnect on connection drops.

Are my RTMP server address and stream key safe?

Yes. They are encrypted with AES-GCM and stored only on your device. They are never sent to us.

How do I report a bug?

Email us at daibou007@gmail.com with your device model, iOS version, and a short description or screen recording if possible.
