By downloading, installing, or using CoRT Circle ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the App.
These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you ("User") and CoRT Circle Team ("we", "us", or "our").
We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App on any Apple device you own or control, solely for your personal, non-commercial purposes, in accordance with these Terms and Apple's App Store Terms of Service.
CoRT Circle is a digital thinking tool that implements the CoRT (Cognitive Research Trust) methodology developed by Dr. Edward de Bono. The App provides six structured thinking frameworks to help users organize their thoughts, make better decisions, and solve problems systematically:
The App supports handwritten note-taking via Apple Pencil and offers three optional AI modes — AI Coach (a conversational coach that can propose and, with your confirmation, execute in-app actions such as creating sessions, filling tools, running chains and exporting), Thinking Chain (a guided six-tool analysis) and PI Diverge (lateral-thinking expansion) — plus per-step AI analysis, polish and scoring. AI features require a separate API key from the provider you configure.
You agree to use the App only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You must not:
CoRT Circle does not require you to create a user account. All features are available immediately after installation. All data you create (thinking sessions, handwritten notes, AI chat and history, preferences) is stored locally on your device.
The App offers optional AI-powered features through the AI provider you configure (for example Anthropic, OpenAI, Google Gemini, or an Anthropic-compatible endpoint). Important terms regarding these features:
By using an AI feature, you also agree to the terms of service and privacy policy of the provider you configured.
All content, design, code, graphics, and functionality of the App are the exclusive property of CoRT Circle Team and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other applicable intellectual property laws.
The CoRT methodology and thinking tools are based on the work of Dr. Edward de Bono. This App is an independent implementation for personal productivity.
You may not copy, distribute, publicly display, or create derivative works from any part of the App without our express written permission.
You retain all rights to the thinking sessions, notes, and other content you create using the App. By using the App, you grant us a limited license to process and store your content locally on your device for the sole purpose of providing the App's functionality.
You are responsible for the content you create and must ensure it does not violate any laws or third-party rights.
The App requests access to your device's photo library only when you explicitly choose to save exported content (handwritten notes, diagrams) to your photos. This permission is used solely for saving content you choose to export - we do not access, read, or upload any existing photos from your library.
The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components. We do not guarantee that the thinking tools will produce specific results or outcomes for your decisions or problems.
The AI features rely on third-party services and may not always be available or accurate. AI-drafted content is a starting point for your own thinking, not a conclusion.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, CoRT Circle Team shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use the App, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
This includes but is not limited to damages for loss of profits, data, or other intangible losses resulting from the use of the thinking tools or AI features.
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless CoRT Circle Team from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, or expenses arising from your use of the App, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any rights of another party.
These Terms are effective until terminated. Your rights under these Terms will terminate automatically if you fail to comply with any of its provisions. Upon termination, you must cease all use of the App and delete all copies from your devices.
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Updated Terms will be posted on this page with a revised "Last Updated" date. Your continued use of the App following any changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of California, USA, without regard to its conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in California, USA.
